We are hiring: UX Director (m/f/d) - Tokyo
We are looking for an experienced Director of UX with profound knowledge of latest trends to let us develop cutting edge digital products such as apps, websites, digital signage, and POS solutions.
Your Education:
- You have a master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or and equivalent in working experience
Your Experience:
- A suitable candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in consumer engagement and consumer experience and or product-related management position.
- You have had experience in managing a UX team of professionals, preferably as the Head of UX, and delivering product projects in a large scale and in a complex business setting.
- You feel comfortable with Lean UX and Design Thinking methodology.

Your Responsibilities
- As Director of UX with zooom you are responsible for putting together key UX personnel to form, not just a department, but a team. You ensure that these key individuals are highly engaged in UX department activities and develop professional individual as well as team development goals and plans.
- In the position of the Director of UX you are responsible for the delegation of responsibilities appropriately to the UX personnel while still maintaining the ultimate liability and accountability for the execution of each of those responsibilities. In your leadership capacity, you also mentor, encourage, foster, and support intelligent innovation and risk taking in order to create and deliver business models that improve the consumer interaction and experience with the product and deliver the best financial performance to the business.
- You will essentially create the department’s vision and relay it to team members; a vision that is in line with the basic organizational values. You then act in such a manner as to inspire and ensuring that the whole UX team produces compelling and industry-leading work.
Our requirements
- Proven UI experience for 3 – 5 years
- Proven UX experience for 5 years
- Demonstrable UI / UX design skills with a strong portfolio
- Sharp eye for details
- Good communication skills and team player
- Eager and self-driven to keep your skills and abilities always up to date
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Sketch or other visual design and wire-framing tools
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
- Up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies
- Business / Native Japanese Level (Written / Spoken)
- Proficiency in Business English, TOEIC 850
- Proficiency in MS Office with very good excel skills
Language requirements
- Business level Japanese (written and verbal; minimum BJT J1 / native level is preferred) and working proficiency in English (min. TOEIC 850)
